Licensure requirements vary state by state, but BOC certification serves as the foundation for each state where licensure is required. Licensure is required in most, but not every state. To qualify as a candidate for the BOC certification exam, an individual must be confirmed by the recognized program director of the CAATE-accredited athletic training education program. A list of accredited programs can be found on the CAATE website. The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) through 2026-27. To attain BOC certification, an individual must complete an entry-level athletic training education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and pass the BOC certification exam. Our program meets the educational eligibility criteria for certification by the Board of Certification (BOC©) and the requirement for licensure by the Florida Board of Athletic Training in the state of Florida. Certification/Training Types Certified Athletic Trainers (AT) State of Texas: Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers - Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) NATABOC. BOC will continue to accept new applications for these programs. Will this change impact BOC’s orthotic fitter (COF), mastectomy fitter (CMF), or Durable Medical Equipment specialist (CDME) certification programs? How about BOC’s facility and pharmacy accreditation programs? To reiterate, after July 31, 2016, BOC will not accept new applications for the orthotist, prosthetist, and pedorthist certifications. All applicants in the pipeline as of Jwill proceed through the certification process according to BOC’s established protocol. How does this decision impact new applicants for these three certifications?īOC will accept NEW applicants for the orthotist, prosthetist, and pedorthist certifications through July 31, 2016. BOC will support certificants in all certification programs throughout their entire careers, and will continue its Alliance representation and communication about key regulatory issues. Certificants will continue to be able to track all continuing education credits, utilize the MYBOC portal, renew certifications, and enjoy BOC’s award-winning customer service. Nothing will change for BOC-certified orthotists, prosthetists, and pedorthists. This decision impacts prospective applicants only. Will this decision impact current BOC-certified orthotists, prosthetists, and pedorthists? After July 31, 2016, the organization will be sunsetting the acceptance of NEW applications for its orthotist, prosthetist, and pedorthist certifications. How and when will the changes take place?īOC’s Board of Directors approved a plan that will ensure BOC will continue to provide critical support for its certificants in the orthotic, prosthetic, and pedorthic professions. BOC is in a very strong financial position however, the strategic analysis showed more growth potential in other areas. As a result of this analysis, BOC’s Board of Directors made the decision to sunset the acceptance of NEW applications for its orthotist (BOCO), prosthetist (BOCP), and pedorthist (BOCPD) certifications. BOC certification is recognized by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and is the only accredited certification program for athletic trainers.
